Accreditation Description:
Belmont University is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the
Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) to award associate,
baccalaureate, master, and doctoral degrees. Belmont University's
professional entry level Doctor of Occupational Therapy and Master of
Science in Occupational Therapy are accredited by the Accreditation Council
for Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE) of the American Occupational
Therapy Association (AOTA), located at 4720 Montgomery Lane, PO Box 31220,
Bethesda, MD 20824-1220. The AOTA number is 301-652-AOTA. Our graduates are
eligible to sit for the national certification examination fo the
occupational therapist administered by the National Board for Certification
in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT). After successful completion of this exam,
the individual will be an Occupational Therapist, Registered (OTR). Most
states require licensure in order to practice; however state licenses are
usually based on the results of the NBCOT Certification Examination. A
felony conviction may affect a graduate's ability to meet NBCOT and
licensure requirements and therefore may necessitate seeking advice prior to
starting an academic program.
