Description:
Bank Street's Dual Language/Bilingual Education programs, designed to
prepare new bilingual educators as well as to help those already working in
the field, emphasize the connection between language and culture that should
permeate all aspects of classroom activities and organization. Applicants
must be fluent in English and in Spanish. The programs lead to New York
State certification in General and/or Special Education with an extension in
Bilingual Education.

Description:
The Master of Science in Education program is intended to enhance the skills
of practicing educators in order to enable them to be more effective
teachers and educational leaders in their community and in their profession.
Applicants may choose from three majors including School Administration and
Leadership, Guidance and Counseling, and Curriculum and Instruction. A
minimum of thirty-six hours are required in the program. Licensure tracks in
Administration and Leadership include the PK-6 and 7-12 levels while the
tracks in Guidance and Counseling include the K-6 and 7-12 levels. Educators
interested in Curriculum and Instruction will achieve licensure in Effective
Teaching at the K-6 or 7-12 levels. The program can be completed within
three years during which the student accumulates graduate credit through
courseworkdelivered during summers and evenings.

Description:
This program prepares practicing teachers to engage in exemplary leadership
and professional practice. The primary goal is to equip them with the skills
necessary to master, implement, and evaluate research-based effective
teaching practice and provide the knowledge and skills necessary for
date-driven leadership. This program focuses on translating knowledge and
skills into practice and is designed around the guidelines set forth by the
National Board for Professional Teaching Standards. The program consists of
30 credit hours and can be completed within two years.

Description:
This program prepares practicing teachers to teach English as a second
language in both private and public K-12 educational settings. The primary
goal is to provide teachers with knowledge of second language acquisition,
assessment procedures, skills, and techniques to more effectively address
the academic and social challenges presented by an increasingly diverse
population of students. This program consists of 31 credit hours and can be
completed within two years.
