Description:
The Department of Soil and Crop Sciences provides a stimulating education and
research experience for students seeking M.S. or Ph.D. degrees in the areas of
plant, soil, water, and agroecosystem sciences. Graduate programs are developed
in applied and basic sciences to improve crop production and management
efficiency, to understand soil, crop, and environmental systems, and to apply
soil and crop sciences to problems of environmental quality. Much of the
department’s research is conducted collaboratively with regional, national, and
international partners. Development of graduate student skills in research, data
analysis, and scientific presentations are an integral part of the Graduate

Description:
Graduate research degrees in Horticulture and Landscape Architecture emphasize
creative problem solving with horticultural commodities (floriculture,
landscape, nursery, pomology, turf, vegetable crops, viticulture), and are based
on disciplinary and interdisciplinary investigations (plant physiology,
environmental and soil sciences, plant genetics, plant biochemistry, landscape
design/planning). There is ample opportunity to obtain multidisciplinary
research training encompassing collaboration with programs in biochemistry,
biology, food science/safety, microbiology, plant biotechnology, plant
physiology, natural resources, landscape storm-water and construction
management.
Accreditation Description:
The M.S. and Ph.D. programs in Horticulture are part of a university-wide
system, administered by the Department of Horticulture and Landscape
Architecture and the Colorado State University Graduate School. Accreditation is
subject to University-wide policy.
