Description:
The major goal of the M.Ed. in Elementary Education is to foster excellence in teaching children at the elementary school level. Although the major emphasis in on working with professional teachers, the faculty welcomes parents who home-school children and other persons who desire to become more knowledgeable about the best practices in providing instruction. The principle school curriculum areas of study are reading/language arts, mathematics, science, and social studies. Electives in other areas of interest are encouraged.

Description:
The Master of Education in Educational Media and Educational Technology program offers two concentrations:
Educational Communications and Technology and
School Library Media
This program is designed for individuals who desire to work as library media specialists in public or private schools and academies (elementary or secondary education), community colleges, or four-year colleges or universities. Program participants may also seek careers as trainers/developers in government, business, and industry settings. The program offers courses leading to Tennessee Licensure as a school librarian.

Description:
The Department of Educational Leadership and Policy Analysis prepares individuals to serve as educational leaders in K-12 schools, community/technical colleges, four-year colleges and universities, and other organizations/agencies that offer educational programs and services. Three different degree programs are offered, each of which has a unique emphasis: 1. master's degree (M.Ed.) program in educational leadership that leads to Beginner Administrator Licensure from the Tennessee Department of Education (also available in Ed.S. and Ed.D. programs); 2. specialist in education degree (Ed.S.) that provides advanced preparation in educational leadership; 3. doctor of education degree (Ed.D.) involving advanced study in educational leadership.

Accredited by the Tennessee Department of Education and NCATE.

Description:
The Department of Art and Design offers two graduate degrees: Master of Arts (M.A.) and Master of Fine Arts (M.F.A.).The M.A. degree is offered in Art History and Studio Art. The M.F.A. degree is offered with concentrations in Ceramics, Drawing, Fibers, Graphic Design, Jewelry Design and Metalsmithing, Painting, Photography, Printmaking, and Sculpture. The M.F.A. is strongly oriented toward creative production and is considered the terminal degree for college or university studio teaching and/or professional work in the field. Application deadline February 15th each year for the following fall and/or spring admission.
