Description:
To be a leader in computer communications takes a lot more than technical
know-how. It takes the ability to see the big picture—to identify and
evaluate an organization’s needs, then translate those needs into systems
that work. Successful computer experts manage people and information, and
communicate effectively throughout today’s complicated workplaces. That’s
why our master’s program in computer information systems covers networking
and programming … and much more. With serious students and talented
professors, you’ll become partners in pursuit of learning, whether you
complete the program entirely online or follow a “hybrid” format. You’ll
learn the ins and outs of WANs, LANs, distributed databases, client server
systems, and application and web programming. You’ll also hone critical
management and interpersonal skills, examine the developing field’s urgent
ethical questions, and prepare to step with confidence into a life of
professional leadership. This 10-course, two-year program may be completed
online or through a combination of online and on-campus work (the “hybrid”
format). Online and hybrid courses run simultaneously, and all online
students are welcome to visit campus for classes or meetings if they wish.
Built on a cohort (team-focused) model, the program embraces the College’s
belief that students play a significant role in supporting one another’s
learning, motivation, and success.

Description:
In today’s schools, teaching English is challenging, rewarding—and essential
to the future of our economy and democratic society. Students, parents, and
the public ask us to teach students to think critically, to read with
insight and to write well, and to become skilled in rapidly changing
communication and information technologies. With a focus on both literature
and writing, Elmhurst’s graduate program in English studies will prepare you
to meet the high expectations placed on teachers in today’s classrooms. The
program is designed specifically for teachers of English, though it also
attracts professionals in library science, corporate communications, and
related fields. You’ll deepen your knowledge of literary study. You’ll
examine the literature of cultural diversity and conduct independent
scholarly research. And you’ll prepare to teach students to think
critically, to read with insight and to write well, and to become skilled in
rapidly changing communication and information technologies. This is an
eight-course, 32-hour program that respects the realities of the teacher’s
life. Classes meet in the evenings, and you can complete the program in two
years of part-time work. Graduate study has rarely been more personal,
practical, and powerful.
