The Elementary Education program is a 3-year, part-time night program
designed with the commuting, working professional in mind. The program
provides a foundation in philosophy of education, curriculum development,
and psychology of learning. It includes 30 semester hours in three
components: professional, instructional, and subject specialization
(language, health education, physical education, and social studies).
Admission requirements are as follows: 2.5 GPA, satisfactory scores on the
NTE, three positive letters of reference, and a Class A teaching license.

The English M.A. program is a 3-year, part-time night program designed with
the commuting, working professional in mind. The purpose of the program is
to offer capable students an advanced program which will enhance their
careers as college instructors or administrators and which will prepare them
for doctoral level study.Ê The program will prepare its students to be
scholars who have not only mastered a basic body of knowledge in the field,
but who have also developed the research skills to be self-educating
learners, whether it is in the context of a doctoral program or as a

Description:
The Master of Arts in English Education (9-12) is a 3-year, part-time night
program designed with the commuting, working professional in mind. The
purpose of the program is to support the professional development of
teachers of English who contribute to the community in which they teach
through effective communication skills, through understanding and
appreciation of literature of diverse cultures, and through understanding of
the importance of critical and independent thinking. The English Education
program consists of 30 semester hours in professional, elective, and content
area studies. The content-area component allows for 18 semester hours
selected from a wide range of literature courses. Admission requirements are
as follows: 2.5 GPA; satisfactory scores on the NTE, GRE, or MAT; and three
positive letters of reference.

The M.A./Ed.S. program in mental health counseling is a 3-year, part-time
night program designed with the commuting, working professional in mind. The
program is designed to develop skilled clinicians and well educated leaders
in the field of mental health. The Mental Health Counseling program requires
60 semester hours of graduate work. Minimum entrance requirements are as
follows: 3.0 GPA, a minimum of 18 semester hours of psychology or related
areas, satisfactory scores on either the GRE or MAT, three positive letters
of reference, and a successful interview.
