Description:
Health Arts and Sciences is a study-at-home program with brief residencies
emphasizing whole systems perspectives and integrative practices for
sustaining individual and community well-being. Our students learn how to
create the conditions that support healthy people through developing
projects that give individuals greater power and control to support
personal, social and ecological well-being. Individualized studies merge
health sciences, holistic therapies, and culturally diverse healing
perspectives with radical thinking and deep reflection. The Goddard process
of learning supports its students to design their own study plan each
semester culminating in a final product and degree. Along with other
impassioned individuals, they join in a vibrant, eight-day residency at the
beginning of each semester and work with one or more faculty advisors to
design their study plans and embark upon a course of study. OUR GRADUATES

Goddard College's Education and Licensure Program, grounded in
student-centered learning and social responsibility, provides graduate
educational opportunities for both educators and others who are prepared to
make a difference in education. There is emphasis on individual needs and
interests rather than on a pre-determined curriculum. This commitment holds
for all students, although students working on the teaching license must
balance the personalized approach with the mandate to achieve a standard set
of competencies. The Program combines a limited residency at the college
(eight days per semester) with an academic study done through the semester
under the guidance of a faculty/advisor. Students attend fall and summer
residencies in order to write study plans for their semester, engage with
faculty and peers, and attend workshops. We offer four teacher education
venues at the graduate level: Individual Studies in Education (graduate

Description:
The MFA in Interdisciplinary Arts Program is dedicated to the advancement of
the arts, as well as to the personal and professional development of the
individual artist. Students take charge of their learning by setting their
own goals and designing the course of studies by which to achieve them. The
learning takes place in one-on-one dialogue with a faculty advisor, and in
community experiences with peers and faculty. We encourage students to
become the kind of artist they want to be, without trying to socialize
anyone into a preconception of what an artist should be or should do. We
welcome all art practices, especially those that advance our collective
understanding of what art is and what art can be; as well as practices that
are not traditionally part of the Western art tradition.

Description:
We are a program devoted to progressive education. We embrace a wide range
of student interests and abilities. We use diverse ways of learning to help
our students reach professional levels of competency. Students develop
skills in practice, communication, personal development, professional
development, and research. Issues of social justice and an understanding of
social contexts are essential to our program. We prepare our students to
make a difference in the communities in which they live and work.
In addition to the individualized program in counseling and psychology, we
offer two concentrations: Sexual Orientation and Organizational Development.
From our 2005 External Program Review:“The program design, that is,
providing education through a combination of intensive campus residencies,
and directed, independent study off campus, provides flexibility for
students, allows for intensive tutorial style learning and intensive group
interaction. This design fosters collegiality, enhances students learning
experience and should be noted as a major strength. The information provided
in the Program Review (2005, Feb) highlight the recent history of program
changes. These changes show a clear commitment from the college, program
director and faculty to continually address the many challenges facing
education in the 21st century…Overall, the Psychology and Counseling program
is strong and well suited for the preparation of students seeking a master’s
level license and/or admission to doctoral programs.”
