The M.F.A. program in playwriting is designed for those interested in
playwriting as well as those who want an academic study of theatre with the
playscript as the central foundation.
Hollins offers an intensive, supportive, and challenging atmosphere that

Description:
Hollins offers summer M.A. and M.F.A. programs exclusively in the study and
writing of children's literature. Two courses may be taken in transfer from
another similar program. The courses are offered within a close-knit
community of scholars over six-week summer terms; depending on the number of
courses taken per summer and additional courses taken during the academic
year, the degree may be completed with only two or three residencies
required.

Description:
The 60-credit degree will offer students an opportunity to immerse
themselves for six weeks of the summer in an international community of the
American Dance Festival (www.americandancefestival.org) followed by the
intimate learning atmosphere at Hollins University. Using the resources of
both institutions, the program will offer two tracks.
Year residency track for highly motivated students with a strong
interest in expanding their knowledge and experience, especially in their
creative work, in an uninterrupted way.
Low residency track designed for mid-career artists, teachers, and
dance professionals.
Accomplished, nationally recognized candidates may receive up to 12
credits for professional experience.

Teaching/Track 1
Designed for practicing teachers. Work with others who have a long-term
commitment to teaching and who want to learn more about the practice of
teaching, to acquire and generate new knowledge, to develop curriculum in
collaborative teams, and to assume leadership roles within their schools.
Teaching/Track 2
Designed for those with an undergraduate degree in most fields. Complete a
teacher licensure program while earning a master's degree. Course work is
offered in the fall, spring, and summer semesters, full- or part-time,
primarily in the evenings.
