Description:
Teaching artfully. This is what teachers can do if they are well grounded in
studio and versed in the many ways in which the studio experience can be
enriched through dialogue and reflection. More than ever, the art-making
process is needed in the schools. It aides visual learning, cultivates
visual language as an alternative to the written and spoken word, offers
sensuous materials through which to forge ideas, provides a vehicle for
self-expression, and stimulates a dialogue among students and teachers. It
is hard to image an effective school without the visual arts and it is
impossible to create a dynamic art program without a teacher well-versed in
art.

Description:
The revolution taking place in digital and electronic media, which seemed to
enter its infancy only a few short years ago, has created a new and growing
need for artists who are well trained in these technologies. More avenues
and opportunities for artists to express themselves exist now than ever
before. As new technologies are increasingly and seamlessly linked, artists
need to think differently about the process by which they create.

Description:
The goal of the Hoffberger School of Painting is to lead young painters from
the mentor/student relationship into the world of the professionally active
artist. Through frequent critiques, discussions, and dialogues with the
director, the artist-in-residence, and visiting artists, as well as trips to
major art centers, students find their way toward more individual forms of
expression. Over the course of two years of intensive study, students will
be guided through a very personal journey and an investigation of the self
that will lead to a recognition of the intention and belief in their work.

Description:
The Rinehart School of Sculpture provides a setting in which individuality
of style, conceptualization, and medium are recognized and encouraged in
each student's work. The ten students who are selected exhibit a creative,
questioning sense about their work and about themselves. We are interested
in students who are affected by their own unique relationship with their
work, not by styles set elsewhere.
