Description:
The Master of Science in Taxation prepares students for professional tax
practice in both the public and private sectors. The program is geared to
practicing accountants in the fields of public, corporate, and governmental
accounting; as well as lawyers, financial managers and planners, who need
extensive information and formal study in taxation. A unique feature of the
program is its practitioner-focus. The distinguished faculty includes partners
and managers from national, regional, and local CPA firms, noted tax attorneys,
and specialists in many areas such as financial planning and state and local
taxation. The program consists of 30 credit hours of graduate coursework. It is
offered in the evening at both the Main Campus and the Bucks County Campus in
two formats: an accelerated format and a traditional format. Students may take
courses toward the degree or as Continuing Professional Education (CPE) credits
to meet biannual state CPE requirements to maintain their CPA license or to
enhance their expertise in a specific topic.

Whether it's a sales force training video, a web-based educational program, an
environmental creek-side CD-ROM tour for elementary school students, or an
instructional program for medical crisis procedures at a hospital, the process
of teaching and learning has been transformed by interactive media. The M.S. in
Instructional Design and Technology curriculum provides students with a strong
foundation in multimedia training and software analysis related to educational
and business applications. Offered in an interactive learning atmosphere, the
M.S. in Instructional Design and Technology program prepares students for
positions in computer and web-based training in all types of organizations,
including industry, academic institutions and healthcare service providers. This
program trains students to be professionals in the areas of instructional
design, programming, design systems, applications, and web development.
The M.S. in IDT is a flexible program designed both for those seeking to
enhance their careers through professional development and for individuals
looking to change careers. Only 33 credit hours are needed to complete the
program. Credits taken in this program can also be applied to ACT 48.
Philadelphia University has received approval from the Commonwealth of
Pennsylvania Department of Education for the Instructional Technology Specialist
K-12 program. This program approval carries with it the agreement that the
Pennsylvania Department of Education will consider for certification those
persons recommended by Philadelphia University. The Instructional Design and
Technology Program at Philadelphia University will offer two paths to
Instructional Technology Specialist Certification, a 33-credit Master of Science
program, and an 18-credit Post Master's Certificate for candidates who already
possess a Master's degree in Instructional Technology or Educational Technology.
