Description:
The Master of Science degree requires a sequence of six advanced research
courses, covering topics related to biochemistry, genetic engineering, and
special laboratory techniques. After this, the student may choose either the
area of plant molecular biology or virology/immunology, for research directed
toward an M.S. thesis. After submission of a research proposal, the student will
begin research in the laboratory of a thesis advisor. An M.S. graduate will be
capable of conducting and directing independent work in academic or industrial
laboratories at a higher level than the B.S. graduate.
