Description:
The MBA program with a Healthcare Administration emphasis is offered on the
Florida Hospital College of Health Sciences campus in Orlando. The program is
more intensive than traditional MBA programs. It is designed for part-time
working persons and may be completed in approximately 26 weeks. Courses are
taught through a mix of formats including one-night-per-week sessions, weekend
sessions, and teleconferencing.

Description:
This program seeks to prepare regular classroom teachers to implement
appropriate measures for serving all students in their classroom, from the
academically challenged, to the emotionally handicapped, to the highly gifted.
Students in this program learn to be sensitive to the various needs of students
in the classroom , keeping in mind personality types and matching learning
activities to the learning styles of each. They will develop appropriate
classroom interventions and teaching strategies for corrective remediation of
academic and emotional learning difficulties, as well as strategies for
addressing a broad range of student exceptionalities in the inclusive classroom.
Classes are offered only in June and July of each year, and, by attending
full-time for three consecutive summers, classroom teachers may complete their
degrees without minimal disruption of their teaching duties.

The Master of Science emphasis in Literacy Education is designed to empower
classroom teachers to keep children at the heart of all literacy instruction,
while responding to the demands of research-based teaching practices mandated by
federal initiatives such as No Child Left Behind. It is our commitment that the
M.S.Ed. programs should focus on enhancing classroom practice. Graduate students
are given ample opportunities to translate theory into practice. Most classes
contain a significant applications component. Literacy Internship and
Professional Applications in Literacy are tailored to facilitate change in the
classroom as well as in the community. The emphasis in Literacy Education honors

Description:
Because learning can happen anywhere and anytime, SAU’s Master’s in Outdoor
Teacher Education program has been developed to help classroom teachers, outdoor
professionals, and youth workers effectively use God’s book of nature in their
teaching and outdoor programs. Using the outdoor classroom allows a variety of
learning styles to be addressed efficiently and effectively. Teachers and other
professionals alike can use the outdoors to help children and teens solve real
life problems. Those in the program also develop practical skills, such as
outdoor site development and how to use outdoor activities as therapeutic tools.
STUDY OPTIONS Classroom Teacher Summer Field School The summer field school
attendance option is designed for K-12 teachers who would like to use outdoor
laboratories to enrich the classroom curriculum. Typically, the teacher will
attend three consecutive eight-week summer field school sessions in order to
complete the degree. Outdoor Professional Intensives These intensive sessions
are designed for outdoor professionals (camp directors, naturalists, etc.) who
need to continue working while enrolled in classes. To accommodate their work
schedules, each semester requires attendance of a 10-day intensive with
additional projects and/or assignments to be completed individually after the
session.

Description:
Professional Counselor Track Because the stresses of modern living can cause
personal and family problems, these degree programs are designed to prepare
students to serve their communities by helping people who are in emotional
distress and who find their lives out of balance. Graduates will be prepared to
serve in both secular and Christian organizations. Students will become
proficient counselors and will gain experience that will help ensure their
success in a clinical setting. They will also be prepared for more advanced
educational programs and will have completed the prerequisites necessary to be
eligible for state licensure exam in Tennessee and other states. By taking
classes offered during regular semesters and summer sessions, students may
complete their degree program in six to seven semesters, including some summer
enrollment Evening classes are designed to be convenient for working students.
School Counseling Administrators, teachers, and students in today’s schools face
daily challenges. Trained counselors can assist them in facing these challenges
successfully. Southern Adventist University’s Master of Science degree in School
Counseling prepares individuals to serve as school counselors. Student
counselors learn to support teachers, other professional personnel, and parents
in meeting their students’ needs for academic and career preparation, as well as
for personal growth and development. The School Counseling program at SAU is
approved by the Tennessee State Board of Education. Evening classes are offered
throughout the year and in summer sessions. With full-time enrollment, this
degree may be completed in six semesters.
