The M.Ed. in Special Education was developed in 1989 to meet the growing needs of children and youth with disabilities relative to highly trained teachers. The program offers course work leading to special education licensure in the areas of learning disabilities, behavioral disorders, mental disabilities, special education consultant and mild disabilities (non categorical). Emphasis is on the integration of theory into practice with a focus on the training of general education teachers to work with special needs students.
