Description:
A Member of the Graduate Theological Union
Over its 98-year history, Starr King School has held fast to its purpose - to
educate women and men for religious leadership, especially Unitarian
Universalist ministry. At the school's heart is a desire to respond to the call
of love and life, and a belief in the possibilities that lie within human
beings.
Each student engages in a process of self-direction to work towards the
Master of Divinity degree. A program of study is given shape by one's vocational
aim, gifts, interests, questions, experience, and needs. The School works in
partnership with the student in the charting of the educational course,
encouraging, making suggestions, offering resources, and presenting challenges.

Description:
Starr King now also offers a two-year M.A. (jointly with the Graduate
Theological Union) in theological studies. This academic degree is designed for
those preparing for vocations in scholarship and teaching.
Students must affiliate with a GTU-member school and then take a specific
number of courses outside that school in a concentration area.
The degree provides --
1) an opportunity to explore and enrich assumptions about theological and
ethical issues inherent in life and work;
2) an academic structure for personal, sustained inquiry into theological issues
and concerns; and
3) a high level of competence in a specific area of study, preparing students
for further study at the doctoral level.
