Description:
Our Oriental Medicine program has evolved into a holistic blend of ancient,
traditional and modern perspectives which provide a strong TCM foundation
including oriental medical theory and philosophy, Chinese herbology,
acupuncture, pulse and tongue diagnosis, dietetics, body work, energetic
balancing, and other diverse oriental medical traditions and techniques.
This is blended with relevant courses in western biomedical sciences, which
effectively prepare students to be literate in communication and referrals
with other healthcare professionals, as Oriental Medicine continues to have
an increasing role in complementary medicine. Our program also contains
coursework which fosters greater understanding of the psycho-spiritual and
energetic aspects of both illness and healing, inherently supporting the
process of students becoming healers.
Accreditation Description:
The Master of Science in Oriental Medicine degree program of the Traditional
Chinese Medical College of Hawaii is accredited by the Accreditation
Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (ACAOM), which is the
recognized accrediting agency for the approval of programs preparing
acupuncture and Oriental medical practitioners. ACAOM is located at 7501
