Description:
The University of Rio Grande Graduate Program offers a Master of Education
in Classroom Teaching and seeks to develop educators who will be leaders in
the communities that they serve. The program is designed to bridge the gap
between theory and practice so that the graduate of the program is able to
apply new knowledge and skill to problems confronting educators in the
schools. The major goal of the program is to provide additional educational
opportunities for teachers so they will be recognized for their knowledge,
skills, and demonstration of excellence in classroom teaching. Students may
choose from four areas of concentration- Reading Education K-12, Learning
Disabilities, Fine Arts (based on Theory of Multiple Intelligence's),
Humanities, and Mathematics. Courses are taught mostly during the summer
quarters and on the internet and are designed for the working teacher.
