Description:
The Union Graduate College Master's of Science in Bioethics program is designed to provide formal distance and campus-based education in bioethics for doctors, healthcare administrators, lawyers, nurses, pharmacists, and students enrolled in professional and graduate programs. Its mission is to provide quality graduate education in bioethics to individuals who, because of the demands of work or obstacles of distance, are unable to participate in campus-based programs. The twelve-course curriculum is based on the Core Competencies for Clinical Ethics Consultation developed by the American Society of Bioethics and Humanities. The program starts with an intensive two-week summer pro seminar on Health and Human Values taught at The Union Graduate College. After completing this seminar students take four core courses online (health policy, bioethics, clinical ethics and health law), supplemented by two elective online courses, a required online practicum, and a two-term masters project. Additionally a clinical ethics practicum, and a one-week capstone seminar are required. Practica and Capstone are now taught at Mt. Sinai School of Medicine of New York City. A student taking four courses per year (one per trimester plus one summer term) should complete the program in three years. Online courses are offered on the Blackboard Platform which students are trained to use during the initial pro seminar.

Description:
Employers recognize Union MBA graduates by their professionalism, experience, high motivation and ability to “hit the ground running”. This is accomplished through small classes that foster healthy discussion, a case-method approach to learning, relevant capstone projects and an environment that challenges students to be innovative problem solvers. In addition, the school is located in the heart of the Capital Region of New York – home to manufactures, high technology research and development, leading healthcare organizations, and major government agencies and non-profit organizations. Students lacking work experience are required to complete a major “resume-building” internship with an area company. Our Internship Coordinator works closely with students to ensure they land appropriate internship experience. There is an accelerated option that enables qualified students to earn an MBA in about one year of study. In addition to the traditional MBA degree program, Union also offers an MBA in Healthcare Management. This program prepares graduates with the business skills and experiences necessary to meet the challenges of a changing health care environment. The Union MBA program is accredited The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) and is located on the scenic Union College Campus in Schenectady, New York.
