Description:
The M.S. program trains students in the planning and data analysis of biomedical
and public health studies, while the Ph.D. program emphasizes both the
development and the application of the statistical tools in these studies. The
M.S. program is designed to take two years to complete, while the Ph.D. program
generally requires a total of 4-5 years after a bachelor's degree. The degree
requirements and electives include biostatistics courses, statistics courses,
and a few non-statistical courses.

Description:
The School Counseling Program at the University of Iowa is designed for people
who are interested in counseling children and adolescents within a school
setting. The School Counseling Program recognizes that school counselors work
with students in a variety of ways, including individual and small group
counseling, classroom guidance, educational/career planning, and as consultants
to teachers, parents, families and other professionals. Our students experience
a variety of educational opportunities to learn and practice skills in these

Description:
This degree program prepares graduate students for positions as reading
specialists in kindergarten and grades 1-12. The course work required develops
the skills, knowledge, and competencies needed for supervisory, curricular, and
remedial teaching positions in reading. The program also builds a background in
reading for students who want to specialize further in the area and eventually
to teach and/or conduct research in a college or university. Successful
completion of this program, combined with one year of successful teaching
experience that includes the teaching of reading as a significant part of the
responsibility, qualifies the student for licensure as a reading specialist.
