Description:
The 30-credit Post-Baccalaureate Certificate in Accounting will prepare individuals to assume greater responsibility in the management of organizations and their accounting functions. Persons applying to sit for the CPA examination on or after July 1, 2006 in Virginia must possess at least 150 credits of college education, including a baccalaureate or higher degree conferred by an accredited college or university. As part of the required degree and credits or in addition to them, applicants must have completed an accounting concentration or the equivalent – 30 credits of accounting – plus an additional 24 credits in business courses other than accounting. The accounting certificate will be available to those whose positions and goals require the knowledge and skills provided by the concentration, but who do not want to pursue the MBA.

The 25-credit Post-Baccalaureate Certificate in Contracts and Procurement Management provides contracting and procurement professionals in industry and in federal, state, and local governments with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to advance to positions of increasing responsibility. This certificate also helps professionals to enter the growing field of contracts and procurement management, to be more effective leaders by understanding these processes and their organizational impact, and to meet the credit hours now required by the federal government for its contracting officials.

Description:
There are two tracks in the Master of Education (M.Ed.) program: the post baccalaureate initial teacher licensure program with an M.Ed. option, and the M.Ed. for practicing teachers who already possess initial licensure and seek professional development, license renewal, or an added teaching endorsement. The entire M.Ed. program is designed to be broad in scope and flexible enough to meet the needs of adult learners, with courses offered evenings and weekends. State-required field experiences (practica and student teaching) in the initial licensure program will also be more flexible than those in traditional teacher preparation programs.

The Post-Master’s Certificate in Educational Leadership is offered for prospective students who already possess a master’s degree and wish to pursue the administration and supervision endorsement only. Admission, continuance, and exit requirements are the same as those for the M.Ed. in Educational Leadership. The actual number of credits that an individual will need to complete is typically more than 24 credits and will be determined by his/her prior coursework.
