Description:
For students interested in careers in academic medicine and/or biomedical
research, the MD/PhD program provides an ideal and time-efficient route to
training as both a physician and a scientist. The program maximizes
integration between the medical and graduate school curricula so that all
requirements can be satisfied within a minimal time-frame. In recognition of
the individual needs of each student, the program has a flexible design,
including a special graduate program, Biomedical Sciences, specifically for
MD/PhD students. Some science majors can qualify for exemption from certain
medical school courses and apply that time to other areas of advanced study.
In addition, the summers before entering and after the first year of medical
school can be used for GSBS laboratory rotations.
