Description:
The Department of Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering offers graduate
study in the exciting field of engineering for the marine environment and will
prepare the individual for a career in many aspects of the field. This includes
engineering related to the design and production of all kinds of vehicles,
structures, and systems to operate successfully in the harsh demanding marine
environment. The department offers a Master of Science (thesis), a Master of
Science in Engineering (non-thesis), a Master of Engineering in Concurrent
Marine Design, and a Doctoral Program. Admission to the graduate programs is
granted to students who have a successful record in their previous studies (the
college recommends a minimum GPA of 3.2) and show a strong potential to succeed
in studies at the advanced level. For any of the degree programs, a complete
application will include an official transcript from all post-secondary schools
and a statement of purpose, personal statement and three letters of
recommendation sent directly to the department and a Rackham Graduate School
application found online. GRE scores are not normally required for M.S.E, M.S.
or M.Eng. applicants unless the applicant wishes to be considered for financial
aid. However, all Ph.D. applicants are required to complete the GRE, achieving a
cumulative minimum score of 1200 on the Quantitative and Verbal segments and 4.0
on the Analytical written segment. For international students a TOEFL is
required with a minimum score of 220 computer-based and 560 on the paper test.
The deadline line is January 15 for those wishing to be considered for financial
aid. Applications are now web-based and can be found on our website with links
to Rackham Graduate School applications.

anti-cancer / anti-infectious drug therapies and the use of computational
methods in the prediction of protein – ligand interactions in drug design.
Graduate students have an opportunity to select from four tracks of study
(biochemistry, organic chemistry, biophysics and cheminformatics). In addition
to the core medicinal chemistry courses, each track provides specialized
training through coursework to prepare students for research in the chosen area
of study. Prospective applicants to the graduate program in Medicinal Chemistry
should have a demonstrated interest in research. To be considered for admission,
applicants must submit an online application, which can be accessed at
