Students who complete requirements for the degree of Master of Education and who meet all requirements specified by the State Board of Education may be recommended for teacher certification in one of the following areas as determined by the nature of their work: Early Childhood; Elementary; High School; Nursery-Grade Twelve; School Counseling; Education Administration; Library Media.

Description:
The degree of Master of Arts in Teaching (Certification) is designed for those students who are already certified at the Class B level and wish to pursue a masterŐs degree program and Alabama Class A certification. These students must follow a program planned for them by the University Certification Officer. Specific certification requirements can be met while students are working toward the M.A.T. degree.

The degree program leading to the Master of Arts in Teaching (Non-Certification) is available to those students who hold a non-teaching bachelorŐs degree and would like to prepare more thoroughly in a specialized academic area. This degree is oriented toward the preparation of students who plan to teach in the junior and community colleges or pursue advanced studies beyond the masterŐs level.
