Description:
The Master of Arts in Liberal Studies Program at Ursuline College seeks to
develop critical thinking skills that prepare students for a lifetime of
learning in their personal and professional lives. In this program, these skills
are applied to an examination of values and their expressions in contemporary
American society from interdisciplinary, historical, and cross-cultural
perspectives. In examining values and their sources we seek a deeper awareness
of choices made by society and ethical consequences of those choices for
ourselves and the larger global arena. We seek lessons about responsible ways to
promote human fulfillment in the worlds in which we live.

Description:
The Master of Management Program at Ursuline College offers three learning track
concentration areas: accounting systems, entrepreneurship and innovation and
project management. The Accounting Systems concentration was designed primarily
for individuals who have completed an undergraduate accounting or finance degree
and who are interested in becoming a Certified Public Accountant (CPA). The
Entrepreneurship and Innovation concentration was designed for those interested
in learning how to become entrepreneurial leaders and how to build an
entrepreneurial organization. The Project Management concentration was designed
to provide working professionals with the knowledge and tools to manage complex
projects that are completed on time, within budget, and meet the needs of the
organization. The accelerated five week course sessions only require students to
attend class sessions one night per week. One course is taken each five weeks so
that students may complete the program in only four semesters. Courses maintain
rigorous academic standards while moving along at a pace that fits the needs and
expectations of working professionals. The program encourages critical skills of
building productive relationships, working in teams, and understanding how
people and processes interact to achieve organizational goals within an ever
changing global environment. This background gives managers a competitive edge
for effectively solving problems when practices begin to fail and new ones must
replace the old.

Description:
The Master of Arts in Ministry program at Ursuline College prepares women and
men for professional ministerial work in the church and in society. The program
embraces a commitment to ecumenism that is grounded firmly in the Christian
theological tradition, and in the affirmation that in the 21st century, we face
rich opportunities for interaction with people of diverse cultural and religious
backgrounds. The Ministry program therefore aims to attract, and to meet the
needs of, students from a variety of faith traditions. The Ministry program also
embraces a broad conception of ministry and vocation, and encourages students to
create and articulate their own ministerial vision by engaging in a wide variety
of ministries and of ministerial settings. The program integrates academic
course work, spiritual development, and hands-on experience in the field of
ministry. The program uses a creative adult-learning model which allows
individuals with full-time work and/or family commitments to fulfill the
Master’s degree requirements. The initial courses address the theological
foundations of ministry within the context of the church and its mission to the
world. Subsequent course work draws on theology, psychology, spirituality, and
culture to develop a holistic approach to, and understanding of, ministry.
Additionally, several courses develop the pastoral skills and knowledge needed
by the professional in the field. The final practicum experience enables
students to focus their studies and to develop specific ministerial skills.
