ETS and Hobsons Team Up to Launch Enhanced GRE® Search Service

Princeton, N.J. (December 12, 2007) —

ETS and Hobsons U.S. announced today the launch of the new and improved Graduate Record Examinations® (GRE®) Search Service. Thanks to a recent agreement, ETS and Hobsons U.S. have combined resources to improve and enhance the service, enabling graduate programs to draw more comprehensive information from a database of more than 400,000 prospective students and generate mailing lists based upon the institution’s preferred criteria.

The service includes several major enhancements that make the tool easier to use and more user-friendly for graduate institutions nationwide.

  • Graduate institutions can now search the database based upon a number of criteria (student demographics, enrollment factors, GRE test scores) to receive customized data.
  • This data can now be viewed in a variety of formats that are compatible with most campus management systems, including plain text formatting.
  • A new user-friendly interface gives graduate institutions easy access to the information they need, with wizard-like pages to help guide them through more advanced tasks.

“The GRE Search Service has been an important recruiting strategy for graduate programs for more than 30 years,” said David Payne, ETS Associate Vice President, Higher Education Division. “Graduate student recruitment has become increasingly competitive, and this online tool helps graduate schools be very strategic in their recruitment and outreach efforts. We are very enthusiastic about drawing upon Hobsons’ expertise to make this service even more useful to those who use it.”

With the service, any accredited institution can receive a list of prospective graduate students that have registered for or taken the GRE General Test and/or a GRE Subject Test. Anyone considering graduate study may also register for the GRE Search Service. Graduate programs can draw from a searchable database of more than 400,000 prospective students and generate mailing lists based upon the institution’s preferred criteria.

Graduate programs will experience more benefits than ever before, thanks to the power of the service’s enhanced features, ensuring they are sending the right message, to the right person, at the right time.

“Hobsons’ exclusive agreement with ETS to provide these improvements and communicate the value of this service to graduate programs is unmatched in higher education,” said Craig Heldman, President, Hobsons U.S. “With new user-friendly features, campuses can more easily leverage this valuable student data to shape incoming classes and drive enrollment.”
